The Kinect has been the talk for a long time now, with much advertisement, so much press and tv time, the Kinect is dominating the gaming sites as well. NOT all is good though, here comes the real kicker, we have noticed that around majority (approx 75%) of articles show negativity towards the Kinect and its services, go to your favourite gaming site and just have a look at how negative they are. This crosses every feature and spec about the product, in comparison when the PS3 was launching, it got the same kind of negativity but it was only on PRICE, however the PS3 system was most expensive, it is pretty much the industry leader in every genre. Where as the Wii owns the market with its new way to play and an awesome price, but is Microsoft Kinect putting both of these methods into action, high price point and a new way to play games, such as playing Halo reach with Kinect, But is that even a good idea?
With the negative talks of how it will not read your body movements as clearly as the Wii or even Playstation Move, then Microsoft have a big problem on their hands for the marketing. They are doing whatever means necessary to promote the Kinect by showing live demos and tests behind mostly closed doors. More negativity comes from various show booth demos and to top it off no sign of a Burnout version with Kinect compatibility or anything of that sort in the hardcore market.
It seems as it was a gimmick to get gamers and journalists interested so this is normal business approach for Microsoft, but this is continuously backfiring everyday as Kinect looses creditability. All we can say is they already have captivated some casuals but at the same time they have created a serious negative buzz from its price a bit like PS3 pre launch.
