Rumour – Gran Turismo 5 To Have Multiple Platinum Trophies
Great news for those trophy hunters, Polyphony Digital are deciding to put in multiple platinum trophies in the game, this is odd for single stand alone game to have the pinnacle trophy “The Platinum” multiple times. At first we laughed at this information contribution because we thought our insider meant the “in game” 1st 2nd 3rd place medals and trophies that are usually associated with Gran Turismo. That aside the Sony insider wasnt joking and hinted that to get just one true PSN trophy in GT5 would take the racing junkie 2 whole weeks and the developers are figuring out which method to go with. So expect trophy packs, each with their own Platinum.
Gran Turismo 5 is the biggest racing game EVER created and they are contemplating spreading trophy packs covering standard racing (GT mode) Rally Championship, Formula 1 racing, Le mans 24 and even NASCAR, this game is 5 times bigger than the most highest rated racers out there. From what we know, expect more news as the game comes every closer to being released.
Get ready for the ultimate racing simulator come November 2nd 2010, once this title arrives PS3 will have taken the crown for the racing genre.

What I don’t like is the multiple platinums because I feel there should just be one platinum, because getting platinum is like the “Here you go you completed the game and here is your reward” Having 2 or 3 or more Platinums takes away that feel of completing the entire game. I don’t mind at all if the trophies are super hard, I would actually perfer it, but there should only be one Platinum. So, hopefully this isn’t true and it is just a rumor…just like Resistance 2 having like 110, 120 trophies or something like that.

Which version of GT5 is this image based upon? It doesn’t have the typical PD look and feel, therefore I am curious about its source.

Its from GT5 (Not Prologue). It was a promotional shot released with the Ferrari 458 Italia. It was during the time where both Polyphony Digital and Turn 10 studios released their Ferrari tribute videos.

From my understanding, there can only be a set number of points (Bronze – 15 points, Silver – 30, Gold – 90, Platinum – 180) for a game: PSN games have a total of 315 points worth of trophies whereas disc-based games have a total of 1230 points worth of trophies (excluding DLC). I’m guessing there is no limit as to how many of each trophy there is, as long as it meets the points requirement… So I believe GT5 will have fewer trophies that will be harder to collect, since there will be ‘multiple platinum trophies’. hehe, I just did some calculations, the most extreme case could be: 2 Silver, 1 Gold, 6 Platinum! It’s hard to imagine 6 Platinums in one game though… I only have 1 Platinum out of 8 games
